Current Needs
ESL instructors: We are looking for flexible and dependable people who are willing to prepare and teach ESL classes. Curriculum and orientation are provided. Classes are held in the mornings and evenings, and the winter semester runs from January-May. Contact Angela at 616-475-5881 or eslrpm@
ESL Volunteer Instructor/Tutor: Available Internships for Fall, 2023 and Spring/Summer/Fall 2024. Overview: We are searching for teachers, substitute teachers, and one-on-one tutors for our adult ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Our Fall 2023 semester will run from September 11th – December 7th. It will be followed by our Spring semester, with dates to be determined.
Administrative Intern/Volunteer: Fall 2023, Winter, Spring, Summer 2024. Provide holistic support for residents of the Roosevelt Park Ministries neighborhood and surrounding area through a warm welcome, answering phones, and translation of basic documents and knowledge of services/programs offered at RPM. Roosevelt Park Ministries is a non-profit organization located in the Roosevelt Park area of Grand Rapids. This opportunity will allow the student to utilize both Spanish and English skills. The internship requires 8–10 hours per week for 12-15 weeks or more, and days and hours can be negotiated. The internship is unpaid.
Family Worker Intern/Volunteer: Fall 2023, Winter, Spring, Summer 2024. Work alongside RPM staff to connect the agency to the community and to help build strong family relationships. Roosevelt Park Ministries, a non-profit organization located in the Roosevelt Park area of Grand Rapids, is seeking an intern to assist our staff Family Worker. This opportunity will allow the student to utilize both Spanish and English skills. The internship requires 8–10 hours per week for 12-15 weeks or more, and days and hours can be negotiated. Technology Internship: Internships Available for Both Spring and Summer 2024. We are looking for an instructor for our Basic Computer classes over the 2024 spring semester (and potentially the summer semester as well). The classes are for adult Spanish-speakers who are in need of fundamental computer literacy skills in order to grow their options and opportunities in a technology driven world. Because our students speak mostly Spanish, we are looking for someone who is bilingual in Spanish and English, both in speaking and writing.
Gardening: We’re looking for a person who loves to garden! Can you be a champion for our garden plot on Grandville Ave and the garden boxes here at Roosevelt Park Ministries? To start with, this would take daily work to get things weeded and planted but would become less work over time. We would love to see the flowers, fruits, vegetables, and herbs put to use in our area!
